What does God want to do with your life? This is the question
that we are asking ourselves everyday in Malang or before we arrive Malang for
E. E. Asian Internship. Last week, we studied on how to understand our own
personality and strength, in order to help us to have a picture about
ourselves. This week, we are studying on understanding God’s plan for the whole
creation.
As usual, we started our day with our quiet time with God,
followed by study on “Called and
Accountable”. Today, we reflected on develop the character of Jesus Christ
in each of us. One of the character we need to build up is faithful
obedience. Obedience is a simple word but hardly for us to put in
action. Obeying God is a big lesson in our life (Yogi, 2013). Obedience is
doing the things we dislike or doesn’t want to do but God want us to do
(Digeng, 2013). It’s hard to obey to someone who are not in the same thinking
with you (Miyuki, 2013). But, we are grateful that we can partner with God as
God develops our character because we can’t do it ourselves. God calls us into
a relationship with Himself, so that in the relationship we can come to know
Him and experience His working in us and through us. In that relationship, God
develops character in us, in preparation for eternity with Him. Encouragement
from Mr. Goodhew: “In doing what God want us to do is another way to praise and
worship our Lord. God’s grace and love writes into our heart day by day, and it
help us to choose to do the will of God.”

From Monday until today, we are studying on God’s mission. I
am thankful that I have friends to help me understand the whole idea of God’s
mission. Today, we studied on the mission of Jesus. In study both Old Testament
and New Testament, we understand better the whole big plan of God. Christ’s coming
fulfills the Old Testament. Where Israel failed, Christ brings completeness.
Jesus came to renew people and bring the Kingdom of God, which had caused
clashes of two kingdoms (Kingdom of Man and Kingdom of God) because they have
two different values, rules, and standards to each other. For example, the
crucifixion of Christ, people saw it as a failure because they believed in a
physical kingdom. But, actually it was a great victory over sin and death in
the kingdom of God. In study of God’s mission, we get a broad understanding of
God’s will for the whole creation. It helps us as we minister to the people. We
are not only evangelizing but also sharing the will of God to the people
(Shohei, 2013). The core of God’s mission is LOVE.
This afternoon, we had a Skype session with Ps. Rene Atienza,
the vice president of E. E. Asia.We introduced ourselves and listened to his testimony
and vision for the ministry of E.E. in Asia. Right after that, we did OJT in
the centre, where we stay. In fact, we just sat in the group, watched and
learnt how people share the gospel. Different people has different creative way
to present the gospel. I am thankful that I learnt a lot (especially how to be
more interactive) in every OJT I did in the past few days. I really enjoyed
going for OJT sessions, because I get to see God work in other’s lives. I am
looking forward to go out for more OJTs.
For
today, in everything, I give thanks to God.
